Episode 23, our hero braves the elements in search of potatoes

I have not been able to get out and walk since Sunday, and I feel like crap. Maybe I can brave the streets today, but a street that looks clear in a car can be treacherous when walking. My neighborhood is still pretty bad and there are no sidewalks. Most of the lazy homeowners would fail to clean them off anyway.  I am amazed at the number of people who do not even bother to clean their driveway.

The wife was gripped deep in the throes of cabin fever, so we ventured out to the store late yesterday.  The shelves remained bare of bread, but there was plenty of other stuff. Some $200 later, I had the bag of potatoes we needed.

I made salmon patties and fried potatoes for supper.  It was darn good, but the house still stinks this morning in spite of burning candles.  The wife baked some chocolate chip cookies last night, but even the awesome goodness of baking cookies cannot overcome the power of fried salmon.

Be safe.

Ahhh...fried potatoes. Haven't had them in ages, or for that matter, salmon patties.
Hope you guys are doing well in all of this weather. I was watching the news and couldn't believe the one/two punch of snow and wind. I guess for days like this you need a tread mill.

You could always walk in place in front of the tv! I do that and you can do stretching exercises, too. It's movement! heh
Love salmon patties! Haven't had them in ages! I used to make a salmon loaf that was also good. I need to look that up!
Sure don't envy you all the snow and ice! Stay warm!

That's what a garage or enclosed porch are for: frying or baking fish. I use a Foreman grill, but you can get a hot plate and skillet. And the food won't cool off from the fitre to the plate any quicker than if you took steaks off of an outdoor grill in mid-winter. When done, leave the garage door up or screen door open for a while. You'll have residual smell for a couple of days, but at least it's not in the house proper.
