Father knows best

Spy on your neighbor.  Turn them in to the government. The State knows what is best.  These sentiments have long been the mantra of progressives, socialists, communists, and lefties in general. Since every problem in New York is now solved -- crime is gone, Sandy is cleaned up, unicorns are farting rainbows in Central Park, Big Sodas are banned -- Nanny Bloomberg can once again turn his attention to the scourge of society -- smoking in your own home.

Get together, rat out your neighbor.  It is the New American Way.

Bow down before your liberal masters or suffer the whip. Seem familiar?

How does this guy keep getting elected? People in NYC must really like being told what to do by their political masters.

When I think of New Yorkers, I used to think of those ironworkers sitting on a beam a mile in the sky having lunch, of Rocky Marciano, of Mugsy and the Dead End Kids, Ralph Kramden, Billy Martin vs. George Steinbrenner, Donald Trump.

I know half of those are fiction and the real ones are from elsewhere, but it's the archetype.

I guess my new image of the New Yorker is an effete metrosexual who sits to pee.

Get the government out of the bedroom? Get it out of the soda-pop cup and pack of smokes first.
