Which Yemeni Scientist made that breakthrough in particle physics?

Tech companies claim that the Trump TEMPORARY ban on immigration from seven nations identified by the Obama administration to be centers of global terrorist activity hurts their ability to find qualified workers.

This begs the question of why the colleges and universities in the USA cannot produce qualified workers.

We know the answer. Workers from India, China, or Pakistan will work a lot cheaper than say a grad from MIT.

I wonder how many employees at the 90+ tech firms who weighed in on the court case against Trump's EO came from Yemen or Afghanistan? Not that there aren't bright people from those countries, but their universities are not world renoun centers of academia and higher learning.

This is about politics and nothing more.

Our education system is broken and has been for years. Putting a non educator in charge is a good start to repairing the system.

Believe it or not many of them come here for college and grad school. I know this because my local college has had a program for the last 35+ years to teach Asian and Middle Eastern Students English and culture and then they leave in the fall to go to whatever school they are going to.

What it really hurts is their ability to hire what amount to indentured workers at rates US citizens would scoff at.

Indentured, because H1B visa holders are generally put on the waiting list for green cards, and if they change employers, it restarts that process. So H1B holders don't dare switch jobs for more money.

Tech companies have long been criticized for being slavedrivers. Who knew they actually had slaves?
