Addendum

Will any of you hysterical leftist Democrat types please explain how cutting your taxes takes money from me or the poor or anyone else?

How is letting anyone keep more of their own money related in any way whatsoever to how much money you do or do not have?

Since no spending cuts or reductions are included in the tax bill (see below), no one is losing out on anything, not welfare, not healthcare, not spending of any kind.

This bill is not killing anyone who was not dying under the current system.

If you state otherwise you are not just being untruthful, you are a damned liar.

I know chirp chirp chirp.

RESIST RESIST , doesn't matter if it helps you RESIST the evil one and install the one who really should have won if it hadn't been for stupid voters.

No, taxes would not be cut immediately, but according to the "pay-as-you-go" rules enacted by Congress, cuts must be made to federal programs when the deficit increases with no corresponding increase in revenue, which is what will happen if this law is enacted. If Congress follows the rules, that would mean a $25 BILLION dollar cut to Medicare in 2018. You might not be enrolled in Medicare, but I and plenty of other people are; for some seniors it is their only source or means of health insurance.

I'll bet though you have been paying into Medicare for many years (FICA). I know I did, and I currently pay a monthly premium of $134 for Medicare coverage. Medicare is NOT an entitlement - it is an insurance plan I payed into my entire working life, and that I continue to pay into. I am one of the lucky ones though - my husband served in the navy for 22 years, and we've got fabulous single payer insurance for life (although we're required to have Medicare to access our insurance).

Senators (start with Mark Rubio) have already said that this tax cut will be the impetus for reducing both Medicare and Social Security - they're not even trying to hide it anymore. Because it's those programs, that every working person in the U.S. has paid into for years, where the money to come from that will cover the deficits that arise from these tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.

Maybe you have a private plane though? Or send your children to private school? Maybe you will do just fine with all of your tax cut goodies and write-offs. We won't.

The Medicare and Social Security you paid in your working years is a TAX, not a payment into a CD, Government-run 401k, or fund for you to use later. Look at your check stub. It does not matter what you or I paid in. So yes, Medicare and Social Security are “entitlements”. Even the Government classifies them as such.

The deficit increased 86% under Obama was your Medicare or Social Security cut? Of course not. No politician is going to allow it to happen now. A smaller increase in spending than planned is not a “cut”.

I wish my insurance was $134 a month. Thanks to the ACA I pay about four times that and now have a $6,000 deductible.

I’m not in favor of this tax plan. See my previous post. In fact, I doubt I will see any savings since I no longer qualify for a child credit. But cutting your taxes takes no money from me. I have a basic philosophy of small government and corresponding low taxes. In any case this tax bill is not “Armageddon” for America. It is not even as large a tax cut as Bush II gave.

As far as business taxes, the US has the highest business tax rate in the World. Who do you think pays that tax? You do — in the price you pay for goods and services.

Thank you for your comments. It is through healthy dialog that we can solve America’s problems.

Further, it has been proven time after time that tax cuts increase tax revenue. This position was a key provision of JFKs economic plan. The boom of the ‘80s and ‘90s was a direct result of tax cuts, as was the recovery from 9/11.

How about this plan: everyone pays 10 or 15% of their income in taxes. EVERYONE. no deductions, no credit for taxes you do not pay. No mortgage deductions. Could there be anything more fair?
