Not only is it Star Wars day, it is my youngest granddaughter’s birthday. She turns seven. This little one is filled with joy and fun. She has a great sense of humor.
The wall next to my desk is covered with her drawings. She is so sweet and I hope life and eventually the cruelty of middle school girls doesn’t suck that joy from her.
Before she enters junior high school, I told my daughter a truth that (I think) helps students about to enter. I explained that a lot of people will become rather cliquish - tribal and point of people who don't belong in their tribe, causing pain and wanting to fit in with others.
ReplyDeleteI also told her that after high school graduation, you will hardly ever see ANYONE again and then even briefly. So don't worry about people's opinion of you which will not mean anything in the ends. I told her seek friends who liked her for WHO she was and not what she wore, listened to and vehicle that dropped her off. I think that helped.
Great advice
