The case for stronger gun laws.

I read an article in my local rag during lunch about the decreasing violent crime rates in this country. I looked at the accompanying graphics with interest. The States with the highest crime rates are for the most part also the states with the greatest illegal immigration issues. This may be a coincidence. Most of the states with higher than 500 violent crime incidents per 100,000 inhabitants can be found in the southwest of the United States: LA, TX, NM, AZ, NV, CA. Illinois, South Carolina, Tennessee and Maryland also had high violent crime rates.

The State with the highest violent crime rate was South Carolina at 784. The lowest was North Dakota at 79 per 100,000. The area with the highest violent crime rate by a 75% higher margin was Washington DC, at a whopping 1,371 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants.

I guess the liberal mayor and strong anti-gun policies are quite effective in our Nation's Capital. Good thing the theft by our elected representatives does not count.

  1. I'll get the racist label again for sure but WASHINGTON DC also has the highest population of blacks as well as a notoriously currupt city government.

  2. well guyk,as a current resident of SC, I can tell you why the crime rate is so high, but I would also be called a racist.

  3. As a resident of AZ I'd have to ditto both of the above. Our evening news reports on the "suspect arrested" rarely do not have the word "undocumented worker" attached.
