The Ground Zero Mosque

I don't like it. I think it is an affront to all Americans. Like mts said in the comments a couple of posts ago, the mosque proves who these people are. We need no more evidence than the planned grand opening": September 11. 2011. This is without a doubt, a victory mosque. There are nearly three thousand reasons to object to this mosque. The Ground Zero Mosque is wrong on every count but one.

In this country we have freedom of religion.  As James stated in his comments two posts below, sometimes the Constitution protects stuff we do not like. Do you feel the need to burn a flag, shout out your support for child molesters, piss in a jar drop in a crucifix and call it art -- all protected under the Constitution. Do you ant to to burn a cross while dressed in your good bedsheets with the yellow stains? Are inclined to  protest at military funerals, show your support for code pink?  Do you want to convince us that partial birth abortion is about women's rights?  Do you think every American can and should own a gun? The Constitution has you covered.

Every effort should be made to show the Imams in charge how painful this mosque's location is.  We should encourage them to build elsewhere. We should appeal to their compassion.  If this fails, then we should protest loudly and often.  Protesters should fill the streets, do their best to stop and delay construction in every LEGAL manner possible. We should stand outside the mosque with pictures of the towers on 9/11. We should shove the image down the throats of the "religion of peace" of victims jumping from the top floors of the Trade Towers. Every time a Muslim enters the mosque the last image they see should be the evil perpetuated in the name of their religion. Paint a mural of the burning towers on the buildings across the street.

We should surround the monument to terror with BBQ joints, gay bars, Jewish Synagogues and Christian Churches. Locate a payday loan shop and a strip joint across the street. I pray a butcher shop specializing in pork and sausage opens nearby. Every day citizens should sit and show the bottoms of their bare feet to the entrance of the mosque. The builders have a right to build, but no right to respect or kindness from those they are trying their best to insult.

But we have to allow the mosque to be built, offensive as it is. Those who scream about a limited government, about returning to the spirit of the Constitution, about freedom, can take no other position.

Feel free to fire away in comments.

  1. I wonder if the Russians would allow the Muslims to build a mosque to celebrate their other great victory of recent years, the child-rape razzia and massacre at Beslan?

They could even have especially phallic minarets on the site of the school to symbolize the Muslims' favorite weapon of Jihad.

  2. Amen to HB, with this note. Some of the worst tyrrany is the petty tyrrany locally. You'd be amazed what the red tape of building permits, inspections, etc. can do to simple property ownership.

  3. Limbaugh suggested a Timothy McVay monument in OKC.
    Yeah, that made me laugh.

  4. Excellent post, and right on.
I have to wonder if the "Islamic Cultural Center", as some idiots are calling it, comes complete with a nuke on the roof, so when they're finished building it, they can vaporize Manhattan?
Would serve the dumbass, ankle-grabbing Khazakhs that thumbs-upped the whole thing absolutely right!

As I maintained from the outset of this so-called "war", we are much to "civilized" for our own good, and far too worried about offending the enemy (UNLIKE WW2) to win.

  5. I was surprised to hear yesterday about the Greek Orthodox church, which was crushed by one of the falling towers. It has yet to be REBUILT due to Port Authority holding it up for various reasons. On land OWNED by the church. Yet a mosque gets the go-ahead. WTF?

  6. I left a comment somewhere else that it is legal vs moral. The bastards who attacked our country have no morals. We can do much legally to make them miserable. May we continue to stand strong.

I like what you wrote here.

  7. "I do not agree with your building this mosque sir, but I will fight to my death for your right to do so."
I'd rather fight to their death, but HB is right. It's legal. But they are spitting (or rhymes with...) on us, and that's provocation.
It reminds me of a bully who walks along you and knocks you over and then offers his hand to help you up.
You know it was intentional by his grin, but you can't slug him, either.

  8. Well said. They have a Constitutional right to build there. I think however, they should build it somewhere farther from Ground Zero.

  9. It would be such a shame if they found a Native American burial site as they were making the foundation.

Even one that was planted there recently, overnight.

    *evil grin*

  10. HB:

I know it won't matter much to people, but it isn't a mosque. Moreover, at this rate, it's probably never going to happen.

But, humor me for a second: at what point does the "tit for tat" mentality finally prove itself worthless? At what point does turning the other cheek actually make sense? Say this thing got built. Then what? Worse case scenario? It'd be in the middle of Manhattan, surrounded by one of the largest police forces in the world, not to mention a SUPER suspicious public. What, truly, would be lost by the demonstration of that kind of tolerance? Bearing in mind that the people who would be using the center are you know, NOT al-Qaida, isn't the kind of opposition people are showing EXACTLY what anti-American terrorists claim as motivation? Are we accused of hating Islam and Muslims? Would seem logical that the more we fight about this, the more we act in the very manner that feeds the fire.

Now, you know I'm playing devils' advocate here. Building something like what is proposed on that spot seems, generally, like it could be better planned. But since our law is on the side of their rights, might be a good opportunity to rise above...show that Americans are bigger, stronger, and not to be undone by a simple building.

We all know how "eye for an eye" ends...
