Miss Over-hyped/Over-rated 2011...2010...2009...2008...2007...2006...2005

Over-rated and over-hyped as a driver
Yesterday the Big Apple hosted a trio of drivers featured in the upcoming Indianapolis 500.  The drivers flipped a switch to turn the Empire State Building Green (like the green flag). What drivers shared this honor?

Helio Castroneves -- the only three time winner in the field this year
Dario Franchitti -- last year's winner (and Mr. Ashley Judd)
Danica Patrick -- led 19 laps in the 2005 Indy 500.

Seriously, can we all just get over Danica? Despite having some of the best equipment she has won just one race. She has consistently finished in the middle of the pack in points. She has led a whole 19 laps at Indy. That is four more laps than such current powerhouse drivers like Ryan Briscoe, Mike Conway, and Vitor Miera . You have heard of them, right (sarcasm alert)? Patrick is far behind her teammate Marco Andretti in laps led at Indy (31). She is not even close to her New York travelling companions of yesterday. Franchitti has led 255 and Castroneves 231 laps. Currently Patrick is 15th in points for the Izod Indycar Series.

Patrick claims she wants to be one of the boys, but takes every advantage of her sex to get publicity. I can't blame her, publicity equals sponsors and sponsors are what makes racing go. I do blame the media for touting her as a top driver when clearly she is not.

  1. Well...
    She has great legs.
Properly made up, she has a beautiful face.
And as a racer she's getting better and smarter. She qualified for the race, (and looking at the race lineup, it's pretty glaring that she qualified faster than this Briscoe guy you mention, not to mention some guy named Andretti).

    I'm rooting for her.
Maybe we'll see photos of her in short-shorts hugging the Borg-Warner trophy?

  2. Briscoe and that bunch -- that was sarcasm. She is a mediocre driver with great "assets"

  3. Where is A.J., Lloyd Ruby, Jim Hurtubise, the Unser brothers, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, & Andy Granatelli?

  4. I agree completely. And you still hear talk about trying to get her into the NASCAR circuit for good.... UGH!

Though, I do admit she looks nice....

  5. She goes around Indy in excess of 220, I ain't saying shit because I couldn't and never could do that.

  6. Well, how many trophies did Anna Kournikova win? Yet she was the top tennis star for around ten years, exclusively because she's hot.

Janet Guthrie has to be cussing up a storm right about now...

Why can't the WNBA get more than five fans in the stands? Their players look too much like dudes. (Kinda like the LPGA before the current crop of hotties). Get some cute girls playing basketball, and you'll have viewership.

Come to think of women's basketball, they tried a league in the late 70's, and I remember those women were kind of fun to watch. I don't know if they had more cuties on those teams, the 70's micro shorts, or if it was my being a 13 year old with a bag full of fresh new hormones in the circulatory system...

  7. Like yourself Joe, I'm getting SOOOOOO tired of this boney-thin, barely disguised, egalitarian/feminStaazi bullshit.

  8. No matter how you slice it, she's a raging bitch. And IRL is bad enough without her.

I'd like to see her try to drive a Novi for more than a couple of laps. Or even one of the 60's roadsters.

Good looking? Only if you enjoy putting up with bitchiness. By that standard, I've dated better looking, and I married it, too.

  9. She gets media coverage for one reason and one reason only. She sells papers because she's a female with an attractive body.

  11. OH. Come ON Nathan. Like any straight man won't put up with a bitch when she looks this good with hardly any clothes on.

Can't believe you guys are bashing Danica. I only hear my brothers do that on race day. Otherwise they're content to watch her bend over a race car in a bikini.

At least she takes her sports seriously. I'd rather see a great looking women be a little too aggressive, than some woosie girl out racing only because she's famale.

And, honestly, as a happily married straight woman, even I can't look away.

  12. But I'd rather see Helio any day of the week. ;)

  13. Rita, there are enough fish in the sea that one bitch fish can be easily ignored. I don't find her attractive and I chalk that up mostly to her attitude.

A 53-year-old somewhat-zaftig Russian-descended woman who makes me happy (my wife) is a lot more beautiful than a slim little twenty-something pop tart hillbilly wanna-be race car driver with a chip on her shoulder the size of New Guinea. Q.E.D.

  15. Nathan: You are every woman's dream. Well at least to all of us middle-age, not so slim, non-bitchy women. Those bitchy twenty-something's are that way because MOST men are too stupid to look beyond the body.

That being said, can I STILL say I love looking at Helio?

Wait, I'm too distracted to answer in more detail because Steve Hayes is on Fox right now
