I cannot state it better than Howling Wolf:
Both contraceptives and plan-B abortion pills are unconditionally available in America to all women today. Indeed, there is nothing stopping the government from opening up kiosks to hand out contraceptives and Plan-B abortion pills like candy, free to any and all. The Catholic Church isn't contesting that. The sole issue is whether the federal government is violating the First Amendment when it forces religious institutions and individuals to pay for those items in violation of their core religious beliefs, with their only remaining alternatives being to pay a fine or dissolve. That is all.
Now HB, you know that will not work, using facts, logic and reason does not work with democrats.

I don't have a problem with your argument.
ReplyDeleteAs a side note. The state probably shouldn't be giving money (indirectly thru parents)to parochial schools through the new voucher system. But I quess our fine legislators have already decided that for us.
"The sole issue is whether the federal government is violating the First Amendment when it forces religious institutions and individuals to pay for those items in violation of their core religious beliefs"
ReplyDeleteNO! It is only one issue.
Even more fundamental is decreeing the level of insurance coverage a company must provide. ANY employer.
Apparently some people don't realize that many parochial schools have been receiving governmental funding long before vouchers.
ReplyDeleteI've never understood why people are objecting to allowing the poorer of our communities the opportunity to afford better schools through the voucher system.
Why a post on forcing a religious institution to fund something they have deep moral values against has anything to do with providing funding for poorer families a better school chose is beyond me. But when liberals can't find a logical argument to support their position, they typically change the subject.
