I have one of these. I earned it. I am curious, do you have one? Let me know in the comments.
I also have one of these:
I am willing to bet very few of you can identify this accomplishment. Mine is hand made from felt, very similar to the image. Today they are mass produced embroidery. This rank was harder to earn than the former. I am far prouder of it. Do any fof you know what this is? Do any of you have one of these?
I have no idea. What I do know is I got some visitor today from India directed from your site by searching explicit pygmy sex photos.
ReplyDeleteSo apparently one of these must be a pygmy badge.
The tepee, the Big C ... I'm thinking Comanche merit badge. Hmmm, what did you have to do to earn that? Then again, maybe I don't want to know.
ReplyDeletefirecrafter.
ReplyDeleteI know....and have both as well!
ReplyDeleteYou made the felt yourself? My, that is an accomplishment in and of itself. Is it possibly Cunning Chippewa Craftsman badge? I'm assuming you made the felt in the teepee, although if it was made of felt it would be called a yurt, and the only light you had to work by was the campfire. Oh what memories you must have, getting felt by the firelight.
ReplyDeleteEd, you are a winner! Did you know or look it up?
ReplyDeleteThe patch was handmade, not by me. It is a Firecrafter patch. Firecrafter is a Boy Scout Service organization. There are three ranks: Camper (the 'C', Woodsman (the 'W') and Firecrafter. There are requirements for each rank. There is a further honor called Minesino where a big green 'M' is superimposed over all. Firecrafter is a mostly Centeral Indiana movement.
If you are familiar with Order of the Arrow, this is similar, except you have to earn the ranks.
I don't have either, but I took my Vigil in September 1993.
ReplyDeleteI have a Brotherhood membership in OA -1976?
ReplyDeleteI got Camper in '73
Woodsman in '74
Firecrafter and Ordeal in OA in '75
Eagle in '77.
I have neither, being diverted from BSA to Civil Air Patrol. I am re-involved with BSA, since my son joined and left with Life rank. I love hearing about the history of Scouting and its programs. Thanks for enlightening me.

Ack, I lied. I took my Vigil in '94, not '93. I did Wood Badge in '93.
ReplyDeleteThis getting old shit is for the birds.
