Reader Challenge

I want you to think about something. I know, you didn't come here to get homework. Well knock It off before I give you something to whine about.

As the debates are finally upon us, it is time to think about your vote. I have stated for me this election is once again an exercise in voting against a particular candidate. I am looking for reasons to be for some one.

If you are an Obama supporter, why are you voting for him?  What policies of his do you support.  Now here is the kicker, you cannot give reasons why not to vote for Romney. I am looking for reasons to vote for Obama.

You Romney folks do not get off here.  I submit your challenge is harder.  Why vote for Romney.  You cannot list the reasons you think Obama sucks, only the positive attributes for Romney.

Have at it in the comments.

  2. A vote for Romney may possibly slow the slide to socialism, but probably not.

  4. Well, we know Obama is evil. I don't see how Romney can do any worse, and I could imagine him doing a lot better.

The fact is that we have to stop spending money that we don't have, and Obama is not The One (see what I did there?) to turn off the taps.

The Pubbies aren't much better but at least they make the right mouth noises...and we might be able to make them live up to them.

  5. Sorry, you said "list positive attributes for Romney."

    1) He's not Obama.

    2) He understands that you can't tax the hell out of business and people who have money and expect your economy to grow.

    3. I don't mind listening to him talk. I can't stand listening to Obama. Voices mean a lot in politics; I didn't watch anything political for years after Clinton was elected.

    4. He's not Obama.

  6. I thought I was the only one who hates Obama's voice.

I first read Ludlum's The Matarese Circle more than two decades before I ever heard Obama speak. Read and forgotton.

The first time I heard Obama my very first thought was "he's the Shepard Boy from that Ludlum book".

  8. Just as Obama was duplicitous on the socialist side in 2008 about his promises, Romney is being duplicitous on the capitalist side. Sure, it's cynical, but that's politics.

  11. Sorry, can't help you here.

No wait, I guess I do after all.

Romney was close to my last choice on the R ticket but I have to appreciate his ability to make hard business decisions. He was brought in to fix the Olympics when it was a disaster. His career has been buying companies, fixing what can be fixed and cutting bait when needed.

His choice of Ryan shows me that he will take on the looming cliff of entitlements rather than ignore them like every other President has done.

I have never believed Social Security would be there when I'm eligible so I have no problem with them cutting my future benefits that won't be there at all if they don't do something NOW. Especially when it won't affect my in-laws who have no other ability to survive.

So I started out to tell you that I couldn't think of a reason why I'm voting for Romney other than getting the disaster out of office but in actuality I feel pretty good voting for someone that might be able to stop the speeding train Obama's been shoveling coal in as fast as he can to crash is into the ravine.

  12. Watching the debate tonight gives me a great deal more reasons to support Romney and not just vote against Obama.

  13. Despite his disappointing performance last night, my support for Obama lies mostly in his sheer guts. Here's a guy who stepped into the White House while bigots like the "I am white he is white" commenter above shouting racial epithets at his back and to his face.

The unabashed attacks continued by way of birthers and GOP party leaders such as Newt Gingrich with his Kenyon anti-colonialism tripe, but Obama remained unflappable.

That was just the tip of the iceberg. The standing GOP threw away the concept of "loyal opposition" early on and publicly announced that job number one was to make him fail, but Obama stood tall and dealt with the relentless obstructionism as best he could.

The man is just tough as hell.

Oh yeah, he also ended the combat mission in Iraq and will hopefully get us the hell out of Afghanistan on schedule.

With Obama in office, the country can finally put the health care controversy to bed and get on with it, which is the best thing that could happen to the business world. This will-it/won't-it get repealed nonsense is the great unsung drag on business and growth.

    Business. Hates. Uncertainty.

I also want a president that supports women's reproductive rights.

  14. You can reproduce or not reproduce all you want, but why the hell should I be forced to pay for it?

  15. Bush was pretty unflappable, stood tall to democrat obstruction, and personal attacks similar what Obama has faced (no one has made a movie fantasizing about killing Obama).

I assume you supported him as well?

  16. I was stunned and delighted with Bush in the immediate aftermath of 911. At that time, he had my undivided support.

The bogus preemptive war strike on Iraq ended all that. The Iraq war was this country's darkest deed.

  17. One of them, Slavery was worse.

The treatment of the Indians too

You know I can't resist tweaking you.

  18. Those are right up there, hoose. I don't think I could stack them in order from bad to worse. I'm not sure anyone can.

  19. So basing your vote based on skin color is wrong.Samuel L Jackson doesn't seem to have problem with it. Along with a few others. Google it if you want. Obama made no attempt at all to work across the aisle. Google that too. Keep the faith Erin, but I well remember the " Gurgle, Gurgle" comments. You can blame Bush all you want for the war in Irag ( which I thought was stupid) but Congress approved it and you investigate till the clowns come home, Congress didn't review the intelligence and voted the American will that someone had to pay. Doing any kind of research will place the blame on both parties. While there are no "Combat Troops" left in Irag, the following is lifted from Weki "The U.S. will retain an embassy in Baghdad with some 17,000 personnel, consulates in Basra, Mosul and Kirkuk, which have been allocated more than 1,000 staff each[24] and between 4,000 to 5,000 defence contractors. What the hell ?

  20. 1) Romney knows who our enemies are, and will make them respect us, as opposed That One who bows down to and consorts with them, all the while dissing our allies any way possible.

    2) Romney will be able to work with Congress to get sound energy policies going so we can drill our own oil, work that shale, and hopefully find sustainable new energies, such as another look at nuclear.

    3) Romney will be less likely to use any national health plan to beat Christians over the head by forcing people and institutions who are opposed to killing babies to either do the procedure, or fund it.

    4) Romney's circle of influence does not include people like William Ayers, Bernardine Doerhn, Rev. G-d Damn America,

5)Romney's picks for Supreme Court should prove to be better than anything the alternative can bring.

    6) My state needs a Romney showing to coat-tail a number of good Republicans into the US Senate and State Assembly.
