Much of this world leaves me dazed and confused. Not in the movie way, but rather in a WTF? way.
I was watching a cooking show on TV. I do this a lot. The experts were showing how to make homemade Tater Tots. While I am sure they were tasty, all I could think was Why?
When you can't afford the gas to buy the tots.
ReplyDeleteIt's for those meatless, wheatless, otherwise-foodless days that are coming.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe I am commenting on a blog as a defender of use of natural ingredients, but I've had to make dietary adjustments in recent months -- a learning process, for sure -- and so, in answer to your rhetorical question: Because, in addition to potatoes, Ore-Ida Tater Tots also contain: "VEGETABLE OIL (SUNFLOWER, COTTONSEED, SOYBEAN, AND/OR CANOLA), SALT, YELLOW CORN FLOUR, ONIONS, DEXTROSE, DISODIUM DIHYDROGEN PYROPHOSPHATE, [and] NATURAL FLAVORING," and there are some who are simply content with having salt, pepper, flour, oil and an egg... maybe chopped onion... in their tater tots. Dextrose has a high glycemic index of 100 and disodium dihydrogen phosphate is an additive whose "excessive use can [potentially] lead to imbalanced levels of minerals in the body and bone loss." Seven months ago, I wouldn't have cared about this shit, but times change. Hey, I still vote Republican, even if I eat like a Democrat. :)
ReplyDeleteThere you have it.
ReplyDeleteGood to know you are still out there Erica! I miss you
Awww, you are sweet. :) Of course I am out there. I am and always will be a regular reader, even if I don't comment as much as I should. I read your stuff every day.
ReplyDeleteLater on Cooking with Liberals, the secret ingredient is boogers.
