Memory Lane

Remember way back in early 2013 when there were some Second Amendment advocates who remarked that one of the reasons the Second Amendment was put into the Constitution was to protect the First Amendment? Remember how the Liberal-types thought that was a ridiculous argument?  After all, the Progressive admonished, the Government would never use its power to persecute and harass a citizen based upon his political or religious beliefs.

Ah, the good old days...

  1. Something that bothers me is conservatives who insist that someone who takes up arms against the government (American Jihadists) automatically loses their citizenship.
To fine tune it, suppose we take up arms to defend our rights, are we less a citizen?

  2. There's a difference between calling or acting for the violent overthrow of the system in order to put in its place a repressive system (eg shariah theocracy), and calling or acting for the perhaps not so violent change of the system to make it more free.

Certainly the former should be considered treasonous if advocated by an American citizen. The latter, not so much ("The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants"); but then, history is always written by the victors.

  3. Liberal types are only interested in group hugs from other liberals, they love to define your rights but no one should question their rights.
