Sitting in a hotel this week I was channel surfing and I ran across a documentary about the Dave Clark 5. Their heyday was a bit before my time. I did not realize they were second only to the Beatles in popularity in the mid-sixties. Dave Clark was a pioneer, he kept ownership of his masters and rented them to the label. Very smart.
