Used to love Harry doing the Cardinal games, especially when they played the Reds. We go down to my grandpas house, (he was a Reds fan), and listen to the game and eat pretzels with peanut butter and wash it down with Diet Rite cola, (grandma was diabetic). Two-two on Cepeda, McCarver on deck. Loved how he pronounced Julian Javier. By the time he got to Chicago he had lost a bit of his edge, but he was still better than 99.9% of today's hacks. HoLEE cow!

ReplyDeleteI had Harry's autobiography. Loaned it to a coworker who lost it. It has been more than 20 years I guess I should get over it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Harry never really got over being canned by the Cards. He spent 20 years in St Louis, but is most remembered for his stint with the Cubbies.
