Feel the Bern

For one of the few times in my life, my primary vote counted for something. I proudly cast my vote for Bernie Sanders. He won Indiana's delegates, due in part to my support.

Not really. I chose a "R" ballot. You didn't really think I voted for that communist mofo did you? But it was with great glee we watched the returns crawl across the bottom of the TV screen showing Hillary losing yet again. Can you imagine the shrill anger and panic behind closed doors at her campaign headquarters? No doubt f-bombs and ashtrays are flying.

The Trumpster won big. GOPers better take note, the Donald is picking up lots of blue dog democrat votes throughout the rust belt. That is not a bad thing. I am no Trump fan, but whatever it takes to defeat Clinton. Another four or eight years of the Democrats will doom us. Obama claims his economic plan has worked to a T. If 0.5% growth is what he considers success, then I guess he really does want to destroy the country.

It looks like we are looking like a Trump/Clinton choice come November. I will once again lament the choice. As I have said for a long time now, is this really best we can do as a nation? Out of 300,000,000 people these are the choices to lead the free world? That is a sad state of affairs indeed. I have no doubt the citizens of ancient Rome had the same lament starting with Claudius.

My polling place is around the corner. Literally 100 or 150 yards from my house. I walked over around eleven to cast my vote. I had to wait about 15 minutes -- a long time for a primary election. As I was walking back hiome I heard a voice call my name. WTH? I don't know anyone around here. I looked and it was my son-in-law taking an early lunch hour to cast his vote. I guess I do know someone.

It is again cold and wet. I could write those words as the weather report five out of seven days since about February. I hope you have a great Wednesday.

  1. There is always another choice....one of the other parties. I usually vote Libertarian.

  2. What I find interesting is that the people who actually know Trump and have dealt with him in the past like him. He has given the country what it wanted, over the top outrage over what should have been simple solutions to problems by the current administration. We can't afford four more years of kind of leadership we have been seeing the last eight.

  3. #NeverTrump. I'll be voting Libertarian in November. It's a wasted vote, but I will not vote for that tribble-haired fascist.

  4. Here is the question we face, which is worse, voting for Trump or getting Hillary elected? #NeverTrump is a vote for Hillary.

Hillary will just be another four, and probably eight, years of the Obama Administration, only worse.

  6. #NeverTrump is a vote for my own integrity. I cannot in good conscience vote for any of the currently-available candidates.

https://www.facebook.com/larry.correia/posts/1231847630159497 sums things up for me. Correia is a genius:

Me: I will never vote for Trump.

Sad Republican: Lesser of two evils! SCOTUS picks!

Me. Long winded response about how a short term victory to get an amoral statist into office in our name, will tarnish the conservative movement forever, and ensure authoritarian democrat socialism for a generation.

Sad Republican: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! (only spelled correctly, and arranged in coherent sentences)

  7. I did not vote for Trump in the Primary.

I'm not sure what I will do going forward.

Pretending that not voting, or going third party, will not help Clinton is naive at best. Of course it will. Four or eight more years of Big Daddy government, rampant immigration, and a steady dose of progressivism will doom the conservative movement anyway. Electing Clinton will certainly ensure democratic socialism for a generation.

I get it, it is the principle of the thing. But elections do have consequences. It is a decision each of us will have to take and then live with. Vote for a third party and there is no crying about Clinton when she is elected, It is like shake n bake -- you helped.

I am not even sure I disagree with you. I just think we have to go forward with our eyes wide open.

  8. Cruz was a lost cause from the beginning, the democrats would have played the birther game. Yes, I know, but it is what democrats do. They would have found some liberal judge to back up the claim, and the Supreme court would have split validating the Liberal Judge. Feeling all happy and vindicated by voting for someone with no chance or not voting at all, lasts until reality sets in. The so called Conservative movement is dead, doomed by idiots that don't know how to negotiate. The press has made the word conservative evil, and nothing will change because the young voters are too stupid to realize they are killing their own future.

  9. Ah, THERE's the laugh I needed cure my nausea:

"You didn't really think I voted for that communist mofo did you?"

I took the R ticket too. Didn't vote for Trump either. (...Really? We need to LEAD with greed now?)

But I would never, EVER vote for a Hilary. I spent 18 years waiting to get the hell OUTTA my feminist liberal mother's home. And now they wanna make her president!?

    Damn.

    That's all I can say.
