If Trump is responsible for the current riots and unrest, then isn’t it clear that Obama and Biden were responsible for the riots and unrest following Ferguson?
Well, there's definitely a case to be made that Obama purposefully fanned the flames after Ferguson.
Trump, on the other hand, has been pretty much pounding on the elected officials for not suppressing the riots, which is their responsibility, not his.
The Mayor of Portland seems fine with letting modern brownshirts roam his streets and blaming it on Trump...not that Trump can do anything about it, short of pointing out that the mayor needs to call in the National Guard, or invoking the Insurrection Act, which is going to have to be the absolute last resort. And of course, it was the mayor who forced federal agents out of town in the first place. Trump went along with that, but I'm sure it was because he figured (correctly) Wheeler would let things go to hell and make an even bigger fool of himself.
Mayor Wheeler has police. He should use them. He should ask the governor to send in the National Guard. But he prefers to have his SA-equivalent patrolling the streets and creating a new, weeks-long version of Kristallnacht.
And now he has the blood of a random Trump supporter on his hands.
Trump is showing admirable restraint by not invoking the Insurrection Act and shoving Wheeler and Governor Kate Brown out of the way. I can even live with his tweets on the subject.
Sometimes the best offense is to let your enemies destroy themselves in the eyes of their followers. (If Sun Tzu didn't say that, he probably wishes he had.)
