You remember their type from your childhood days. A bunch of kids are playing and little Patrick always had to be in charge. He had to be the Chief. If you were playing Monopoly he had to be the race car or he would not play. If the gang voted play Hide n Seek when he wanted to play Kick the Can, then he just went home. If you were in a middle of a sandlot game of baseball and called him out at first, he cried, stomped, pleaded and if he did not get his way he took his ball and went home, leaving you with your bat in hand. You know the type.
Those guys all grew up. Most of them banded together to join the Democrat Party. Their motto -- Its Not Fair! Once again Indiana Democrats led by the man with a snazzy hairpiece, Pat Bauer, have learned the hard way that elections have consequences. Using their full complement of fingers and toes they have counted and determined Democrats lack the votes to stop legislation they do not like.
Instead of being adults, they refuse to participate. Last year they hightailed it to Illinois. This year they are locked in their offices, crying, screaming in fits of rage "It is not fair", clutching their tattered worn baseballs tightly to their sunken hairless chests. The cause of their tantrum is pending Right to Work legislation. The measure says there are no longer closed union shops in Indiana. If an employee does not want to join a union or pay dues, he does not have to. Nothing stops devoted union members from belonging to the United Steel Workers, The UAW , The IBEW, The Teamsters or any other union. But no one has to either. Any workplace can still be organized. Wages, benefits, and work rules can be negotiated and bargained. But, as an employee, you do not want those benefits -- you do not have to pay union dues or belong to the Brotherhood. It seems reasonable to me.
The crybaby Democrats would have us believe the Right to Work legislation is unfair and unpopular with the voters of Indiana..Reasonable elected officials would vote their conscious and win or lose as the votes are tallied. If the new law really is unpopular, then it can be overturned in the next election and will serve as fodder for the upcoming campaign. If the people of the Hoosier State want to change things back they will pull the electronic lever in favor of the Democrat in the fall elections. Just as Obamacare ushered in a strong Republican majority in the US House of Representatives, Right to Work could bring about a strong Democrat victory in Indiana.
Except Hoosiers are in favor of Right to Work by an overwhelming majority. The Democrats know only the unions are against the measure -- who would pay union dues if they were not forced? The Democrats know they will not get a chance to overturn a popular law, so they return to their childhood, spoiled brat tendencies. The Democrats hide in their closet, refusing to play by the rules. They would rather stick a knife into their red rubber kickball. No one gets to play if they cannot make up the teams.
I despised those kids in my youth, and, my attitude has not changed in the interceding decades -- FUCK YOU Democrats.

I am SICK of being held hostage by union thugs. At ALL levels of government.
Jimmy Hoffa is alive and well.
Unions are legal gangs who threaten and intimidate to get their way.
Yep, I always viewed them as a sort of mafia. Good for Indiana for not taking it.
Unions long ago lost any reason for existing.

Add my fuck you to the dems Joe, right on!
sorry Galt, I accidentally erased your last comment -- it was an accident. Please resubmit.
Chalk it up to operator error.
Sorry
It's alright, I'm all aboard with this!
Hey Joe,
Funny, all the guys we played baseball with didn't whine around or threaten to go home if they were called out and I'd say their mostly democrats. I guess it was because we played fair except for the times when we let the handicapped kid get to first base by making an "error". We didn't get too excited because it was only a game. What we didn't like was when the kid who brought the ball and bat acted like he was better than us and wouldn't listen to anything we would suggest about picking the teams or who got to bat first. Well, that enough of the baseball stuff.
I'm one of those over- paid,under-worked teachers that Ol' Mitch loves to hate. Our union bargains in good faith with our school board and administration and we get a new contract. Do we have benefits. Yes, but not to the degree that Ol' Mitch and the anti-union people claim. You are not forced to join the union and a few teachers do not because of political reasons. These same teachers get ALL the benefits that our union bargains for and get to shove $650 back in their pocket. Fair? You tell me. Maybe we should have every teacher do their own bargaining. That would be efficient. I pay union dues because I feel they will represent my interests. I don't think I want to solely rely on the generosity of the school board to set my pay.
Still haven't seen any "unbiased" polls that show Hoosiers for or against right to work. For many it is a non issue as it probably is to many of the corporations that may be looking at coming to or starting up in Indiana. Haven't seen any names of corporations that declined to come here used as evidence for RTW. Is there some sort of privacy clause that prevents Ol' Mitch and the rest of the RTW supporters from citing these companies?
Republicans are in power. Yes, this is true but it would be nice if they would use that power to move the WHOLE state forward.
I realize this is rambling but I've got papers to grade and I don't think ending with FUCK YOU DEMOCRATS brings anything to the table
Well Teacher, I think it fair I respond.
Teachers are always claiming they want to be treated like "Professionals". They all have degrees, some advanced degrees. Yet when it comes to work rules teachers want to be "blue collar". You see, most of us in the 'real' world take a job at the pay the corporation we work for offers. If we do not like the pay and benefits we go elsewhere.
You do not want to be at the whim of the school board? Well welcome to the real world where employees -- including professionals, are compensated at the whim of our corporate board. If you do not like what your school system pays you have the right to go to another. Not all schools -- at least in Indiana-- have the same pay scale or benefits. Of course most of us are not guaranteed a job for life after putting in five years either. My job is day to day. As it should be. If I start doing the minimum or less, I should be fired.
Most teachers do a great job, but I am positive you can name several in your building who have not updated a lesson plan, or put any effort into the job for years. Similar job performance is not tolerated in a private enterprise.
Lest you think I do not know what I am talking about, my wife has worked as a teachers aid for 13 years. My daughter is a teacher. She belongs to the union. I think teachers are underpaid. I think many of the "reforms" Mitch and company are putting in place are over-the-top and wrong-headed.
I do not think anyone should be forced to join a union. I have belonged to two unions in my life -- both through summer jobs while in college. I did not want to pay the dues, I needed the money.
So, to summarize, I don't think individual teachers should bargain contracts. I think as professional salaried employees you work for the wages the corporation offers. I think any teachers or public union employees who strike against their employers -- the taxpayers -- deserve to be immediately terminated.
As a teacher, you knew the hours and pay when you took the job. You have no more right to complain than the director of a small non-profit can complain his compensation is way less than the director of an investment bank. We all make choices.
And yes, when the Democrats take the taxpayer's pay to go to work, then refuse to sit in session because they will lose the vote, then I say FUCK THEM. Elections have consequences as our President used to say. In a representative democracy, the minority has its say, the majority has its way.
I did not care much for ObamaCare, but the way to stop legislation is cast your vote (win or lose) and then make your case to the voters. If the voters agree you change things the next time you are in power.
Refusing to "play ball" is not how grown ups act.
