We are but a few weeks out from the election. There is no way in this world I will vote for the vapid Veep.
At this point unless Trump finds some economic advisor who whispers advice into his self-righteous hard head I won’t vote for him either. That pains me because I firmly believe if you don’t vote you don’t get to complain.
Trump’s tariff plan will be an inflationary disaster. I outlined my reasoning in a previous post. Everything you buy, even food, is subject to the global economy. Like your avocados? Early grapes and corn? Where do you think those come from? Pineapple?
For a business man Trump is woefully ignorant of the world outside of real estate and entertainment.
If you believe the businesses or exporter will pay the tariff, you are an idiot too. Businesses don’t pay taxes. It is a cost that gets built into the final price.
I’ve dealt with tariffs and dumping duties much of my professional life. That cost gets passed right on to the customer and once he builds whatever machinery he produces that cost rolls right to the end user.
I’m all for encouraging us to Buy American. We need to expand our manufacturing base. We need to on-shore more production. This won’t make it happen.
Why did clothing manufacturers leave the Carolinas and off-shore the production of T-shirts? Because no one wanted to pay thirty bucks for a cotton shirt forty years ago. What do you think union wages and benefit cost would add to the price of a T-shirt today?
We live in a global economy, whether we like it or not.

WHile I mostly agree with you regarding tarriffs, consider this:
Choosing not to vote for Trump is equivalent to voting got Harris.
IN this election, we (sadly) gotta pick the lesser of two weasels.
Trump is less than perfect. Very much less.
Kamala is worse.
I feel your pain, but don't step on your dick
Then what do we do? I can't vote for either. I feel I'm in a corner and have no way out.
You are right. I’m struggling with this. This tariff plan is so idiotic and misguided
Joe.
Welp, you are right on the economics. Being in a very blue place though, and seeing rampant and enthusiastic crime, I gotta go with Orange Man.
Article in Fox today - Mauritanian have overrun a small Ohio village of 3,500 people. They now have 2,700 of these people. Apartment buildings with 4 people per unit is now housing up to 12. They are not enough exits, overwhelming the plumbing systems, etc. These problems are what Trump going to be stepping into.
Now ask yourself do you know where the Mauritanian come from. No not the movie. It's actually a country.
Please listen to Tyrus interview Trump on Wed or Thu on Outkick. You'll learn things about Trump you've probably never heard or read about.
Looking at the stuff I buy lately, it's ALL "Made in China".
I know if it was made in the U.S. it would cost more, and I know why.
I don't want to buy Chinese crap. If Trump puts a Tariff on their stuff it will cost more.
I don't care.
I want to see "Made in the U.S.A. on labels of the stuff I buy.
I’m with you, but those factories and capacities do not exist today. It takes a long time to create a factory from scratch.
Case in point the car models with the highest American content are Teslas. They hold the top spot at 85-87%. I won’t own a EV. The next fourteen models are all foreign-owned companies like Honda, VW, Toyota.
At number 19 is a Corvette. I can’t afford an ‘Vette, even if I want one. At #21 is a Dodge Durango.
It just isn’t that easy to buy all American.

And a point:
It is taxes, (tariffs, if you will) that made Honda, Toyota, and Subaru decide to do dometic production here is the US.
At this point, the Honda Ridgeline is more american than a For F-150. And that is Trade rules and other protections that made it that way. More protections make for more american production and jobs. If Ford, Chevy, and Dodge had to meet the same standards as the Japanese, we'd have even more American production
This last year a man required the builder to buy nothing but American made material for his new home. Builder said it'll cost more but when home was done it was the same as imported material. The builder now advertises as can do All American Builds.
Here’s the thing, your American made appliance has motors built in Mexico using Chinese Bearings and Chinese wiring harnesses. Is it still made in America? Assembled maybe. But a 20% increase in components means you pay more.
No matter what happens with tariffs, four more years of Democrats means four more years of inflation. Everything is going to cost more no matter what. DJT can't impose tariffs by his own bad self. He needs Congress to help with that. But if we sit by and let the Dems stay in because we don't like DJT's tariff concept, inflation is going to kill us all anyway.
We MUST stop the runaway government spending spree. That is Job 1. Everything else is Job 2 and is ultimately negotiable. The Democrats are not interested in Job 1 because they want to ruin the middle class, and inflation is the tool they're using to do it. So by all means, vote Kamala or scratch the race, if that's what you want, too.
You are correct. We just need folks from the Stupid Party to reign in spending, something the Republican Party has not been willing to do either.
Oh I’ll vote for Trump. I’ll hold my nose but he beats the alternative
Joe
If you don’t vote for Trump you are voting for the Democrats which means your granddaughters if they play sports will have a high chance to play against a boy and boys will be able to use the bathroom at the same time as them. I will take higher prices to get rid of that shit….,
