Thomas Hendricks lived a large portion of his life in Shelbyville, Indiana. He was the twenty-first Vice President, serving under Grover Cleveland. He died after serving just a few months in office. His distinction is he is the only Vice President of the US (that was not later President) to have his picture placed on United States Currency. Here is his silver certificate. Notice the picture is shaped like a tombstone.
