Friday Five

This week is a list of five firsts.

1. What was your first car?
1966 Chevy Pickup w/ a "three on the tree" manual transmission
2. Who was your first kiss?
           Joni
3. What was the first concert you attended?
           The Doobie Brothers
4. What was your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?
          Bugs Bunny or Jonny Quest
5. What was your Kindergarten teacher's name (or earliest teacher you can remember)?
Mrs. Lewis? I know I had Mrs. Delacroix in first grade.

How about you?

Come on play along. Failure to play means orphans will go hungry. Without you answering there will be no white Christmas. Kittens will cry and baby seals will die. Please put your answers in the comments.  If you really loved me you would. It hurts me when you do not play along. Do it for the little babies in Haiti. Do it for the old people of Tibet. Do it for America!

There is a pre-Christmas gift for you, just for playing along!

1. 1972 (?) Bug photo here.

2. Kevin. I still remember his taste.

3. Boz Scaggs.

4. Scooby Doo. I longed to look like Daphne and have a boyfriend like Fred, but knew I was destined to be more of a Velma type.

5. I do not remember her name, only that she admonished me for drawing "poor dots" on my arithmetic paper. I still exchange Christmas cards with Mr. Sors (my high school Latin instructor), and Mrs. Evans (my fifth grade teacher.)

6. Nancy Pelosi.

7. Have a nice Friday, Hoose.

My kindergarten teacher (I still am not sure of her name) gave me a devastating "F" on an art project. How can you give a kindergarten kid an "F" in art?

Look up there in the corner, you can see I am a great artist, a regular Monet.

1. ED! We had the same car. Mine was a 1968 Ford Falcon that my dad mixed whatever paint was in the garage and painted it a very ugly brown. No power steering and very little HEAT.

2. I don't want to talk about it.

3. I think it was the Beach Boys. It would have been late 70's and I should have just stayed home and listened to their album. Most boring concert ever. They put no effort in drawing in the crowd, hell I'm not sure they even knew what city they were in and the way they performed was like they didn't even know they were playing before a live audience.

4. I'm gonna cheat here. I don't remember watching Sat morning cartoons, probably because we were up late watching Sammy Terry. He's still alive you know. Has a fb page that just a month ago his son took over.

5. First grade. Mrs. Lorber. I was the teachers pet.

Dan O. said...

1. What was your first car?
1968 Cutlass (4 door)

3. What was the first concert you attended?
Bob Seger (The Night Moves tour), The Sweet was opening act (1977, I think)

4. What was your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?
The whole WB gang

5. What was your Kindergarten teacher's name?
Mrs. Chaffins

5. Mrs. Singer.

Rita: that 68 Falcon was a Mustang in disguise. Or vice versa. Like Otter's. Mudge's Econoline was a Falcon in disguise. I had a couple of those Econolines, a 62, 64, 67, Falcon and almost had a 65 Mustang.
All the same parts and running gear.

1. 1979 Datsun B210 - a 2-door standard.
2. Brenda Wardlaw - at least that I can remember
3. Sha-na-na, really. My mom took me to see them in Indy when I was a wee lad. Bowser was the bomb!
4. 'Captain Caveman'
5. Mrs. Barnes

Ed: A Mustang? Are you serious? It ran like a slug and looked even worse. But it was my car.

First car I ever bought myself was a 1970 LTD. Sounds kinda cool, but it was 9 years old (which was way beyond the life of cars back in those days) and the dash and seats had nasty rips. Bought the thing for $600. A couple years later I replaced it with a brand new 1979 baby blue Monte Carlo which was totaled one icy morning 4 months later down a steep embankment. I cried like a baby.

Yeah HB, the Miami Sound Machine. Went with my dad. Right after Gloria Estefan was on a big bus accident that almost killed her.

As massively divergent as they are to my tastes, they were good at what they did...
