Ponder this: there are just over a thousand companies in the US with more than 10,000 employees. Those are the biggest companies.
One agency in the US government, USAid, employees 10,000 people. Ten Thousand. The average employee of the Federal Government makes $106,000 annually or about $51an hour. Plus benefits. And you are paying those wages. Then these well-paid employees take even more of your hard earned dollars and send that money off to support good and bad programs all over the globe. Vaccines for poor African kids. Billions for Hamas. How much is siphoned off or used to bribe politicians? You are paying for it all.
Do you think Walmart bosses would be okay with employees helping out Amazon? Why would we let USAid help out the enemies of our country? When people take to the streets shouting “death to America” they don’t deserve our dollars. Not even the kids. Let their own parents and government take care of them. It is not the responsibility of American taxpayers to support the world.
So yeah, I have no issue with the President going through the budget or looking at programs or evaluating employees. Do you think the CEO of any other large corporation just lets the department heads run stuff without oversight?
Do you think big companies don’t hire outside consultants when the ship is floundering?
Yes, I want the government to run like a business . It’s my money after all.

Joe
Imagine what Doge will uncover once they get to the IRS, the Fed, the Pentagon, other departments.......
I read that some of these millions they've dug up may be cover for psy-ops by the CIA. You can't even believe or make this stuff up. No wonder every country hates the USA....we've got our hands in every other countries' business.
Instead of taking care of domestic ills we're stirring up political coups around the world and throwing Billions of our tax $$s away.
And I haven't heard a single elected Democrat complain about the waste-just about the process. WTF?!?
Hear hear! To all three of you.
So nice to see people being reasonable and thinking for themselves.
Millions of dollars in condoms for the gaza strip?!
And "in CA", millions for illegals and to fight against bad orange man!
But no water for burning cities, and defund the fire department.
Somehow this makes sense to them. They defend it and vote for it.
And then preach to the rest of us.
“And I haven't heard a single elected Democrat complain about the waste-just about the process. WTF?!?”
Indeed. That bothers me almost as much as the waste of my tax dollars.
Joe
The government is not a business. A business exists to maximize profit. A government exists to provide stability, protect citizens, and uphold the law.
The President is not a CEO. Unlike a CEO, who answers to shareholders, the President is bound by the Constitution and accountable to Congress. He cannot simply defund agencies or reallocate money without legislative approval—to do so is a direct violation of the Appropriations Clause.
Government spending is strategic, not wasteful handouts. Foreign aid, for example, isn’t just “charity”—it’s a tool of diplomacy, preventing failed states from becoming havens for terrorism or authoritarian regimes. Cutting aid doesn’t save money—it creates global instability that the U.S. eventually has to address through more expensive means.
The taxes you pay wouldn’t even cover the annual salary of the lowest enlisted member of our armed forces, and they qualify for food assistance. If I average the highest salary of generals and admirals ($18K/month) with that of the lowest E-1 ($1900/month) then wow! the average salary in the military is $10,000+ per month. An E-9 with over 26 years of service does not make $10,000 a month. The actual average U.S. government income is somewhere around $65K a year, not over $100K.
If 10,000 people shouting “death to America” out of a population of 2 million, that’s .5% of the population screaming. But yeah, let’s screw EVERYONE ELSE who maybe appreciates and is thankful for the U.S. and the aid that’s provided but isn’t demonstrating and make them think those 10,000 may have a point. And for God’s sake please keep up with reality - the fake news about billions/millions of condoms going to Hamas has already been walked back.
You want the country run like a business? Then you must actually want to pay higher taxes than you do now. A company is in business to make a profit, and guess where that profit will come from? You want your taxes to drop or be eliminated? The government (Trump, Musk, the military, etc) will still have to be paid and you’re the one that’s going to be paying. But maybe you’d rather have a VAT added anytime you buy anything.
How about the Congresspeople actually pass a line item budget so they KNOW how unelected bureaucrats are spends OUR money?
Yes funding LGBQ comic books in Peru makes the US safer…. How is that a tool if diplomacy?
Joe
Let me summarize the anonymous comments:
We should not expect accountability or question programs run by unelected bureaucrats because it’s tax money.
The a president doesn’t have the right to see if his employees are doing their jobs
We should be concerned that twenty-something government employees are working for DOGE even those those who have an issue with this have advocated for 16 year olds to vote
We cannot question funding for terrorists because again it’s tax money, leave the issues to the “professionals
BTW. I’m well aware this goat rodeo started way longer than 4 years ago
Joe
I want to know why we are providing aide to Afghanistan. We left billions behind when we did the disastrous pull-out. But now this - The U.S. is the largest international donor to Afghanistan, having provided about $2.6 billion in funding to the UN, other international organizations (PIOs), and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Afghanistan since August 2021,” said the SIGAR report.Sep 13, 2024. Why? And this one is closer to home. Why does congress get to have a slush fund for their "indiscretions" that workers file against them. How many millions have been paid out and for which congress critters.
Liberals lecturing "keep up with reality"...
Hilarious.
"...the fake news about billions/millions of condoms going to Hamas has already been walked back."
Your proof?
$65.9 billion to Ukraine.
Bet "the big guy" got his 10%, too.

"US ally accuses Biden admin of using USAID as a 'tool to interfere with domestic issues' - Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó says the country is 'very happy' with the 90-day pause to reevaluate spending on programs such as USAID"
There has been a commission to streamline government and reduce fraud, waste, and abuse in place since 2011, focusing on efficiency, reducing redundancy, and reducing waste. They’ve saved billions. One of its most recent accomplishments was consolidating 20 government payment streams into four, resulting in a savings of over $3.2 billion dollars.
Government employees are not employed by Donald Trump; they’re employed by the U.S. government civil service. He still isn’t king or supreme leader of the U.S. Going in and data mining personnel file does not let him know who is efficient or not. It does let him know who may disagree with him or be the type of person he doesn’t like (female, Black, Hindu, etc.)
I mentioned the age of the DOGE employees to point out they’re either still in college or only recently out of it - none of these coders is older than 25; some are only 19. The main point is they have no authority/authorization to go into employees’ files, including your and my personal files, and decide who should be fired or have their benefits cut or whatever. Think of it as your boss inviting his next door neighbor (“really smart guy”) to come in and go through your personnel files to see if you and other employees are “efficient” enough, a guy who brings his sons along to help because “they’re good with computers.” Musk wants into those files not because he wants to “save money” or make things “more efficient” but to cut regulatory oversight of himself and others. He could give a shit whether our government works more efficiently as long as nobody is watching what he does and how much he takes. Where do you think all these so-called “savings” are going to go? Back into your pocket? Or maybe into a (totally aboveboard) Sovereign Fund?
I don’t like us giving money to terrorists either, but for some reason Saudi Arabia has always gotten money from us. Even 9/11 didn’t stop it. We all have things we wish the government wasn’t spending money on or wish they spent more on, or don’t understand why money is being spent there. We can complain about all of those things. But I don’t know enough *in depth* about why and how that money is used and neither do you or Donald Trump. Congress appropriates the money and someone much higher up the food chain makes decisions about where the money goes. I can be mad about it but that’s about it. And Donald Trump and anyone working for him doesn’t care what we think.
Joe, you should really learn to lie back, relax, and imagine that all your tax dollars are paying part of some poor E-1’s salary. It’s easier and less stressful.
Proof?
Still waiting.
I’d rather see your proof.
Transportation Secretary Duffy has officially announced that Musk & crew are free to enter the FAA system to look for “inefficiencies” Happy flying!
