THey believe they are entitled to those federal funds because the Feds have been overtaxing us for decades and the giving it back to the states so that the Feds have some control. The States do it as well so they can control the cities
so the cities think that they are entitled to that money
Federalism cuts both ways, but the Constitution limits how far the federal government can go in forcing local police or governments to act as its agents. I remember when Congress controlled the purse strings. Maybe there are new rules?
Interesting rewrite of history, but the Civil War wasn’t launched by Democrats “attacking federal property.” It began when Confederates — who had seceded from the Union — fired on Fort Sumter to defend slavery. The modern Democratic Party bears no resemblance to the pro-slavery faction of 1861, just as the modern Republican Party doesn’t mirror the party of Lincoln.
Yes, the Southern Democrats of 1861 led secession — that’s fact. But it’s also fact that those same states later turned Republican as the parties realigned over civil rights, labor, and race. The “Solid South” flipped red, and the GOP became home to many of the same ideological heirs.
So sure — Democrats were the party of secession. Republicans became the party that welcomed their grandchildren.
If we are going to be “honest” you might acknowledge that the South voted Democrat and against at least a half dozen Civil Rights bills . Democrats were the party of the Klan in both the original and reconstituted 1920’s versions. It was Demicrat governors who fought segregation in Little Rock, Birmingham, and it was Democrats who spit on Ruby Bridgers.
Democrats voted against the Civil Rights Act, even though Johnson signed it.
Southern Democrats did not leave the party until the leftists took the Democrat Party over , culminating in Reagan’s capture of the Blue Dog Democrats. Whatever imaginary shift of the parties you envision, not that I agree, did not happen for more than 115 years AFTER the end of the Civil War. Joe
Joe, I don’t disagree that Southern Democrats opposed civil rights legislation — history’s plain on that. But that’s exactly where the party shift took shape.
When Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act in ’64, he famously said Democrats would “lose the South for a generation.” He was right — those segregationist Democrats didn’t vanish, they moved. Goldwater carried the Deep South in ’64 opposing the Act, and Nixon built his “Southern Strategy” around those same resentments.
By the time Reagan captured the Blue Dogs, the migration was complete. The labels stayed, but the ideologies flipped — the South that once voted Democrat now votes overwhelmingly Republican, and the Democratic Party that once tolerated segregation became the one that fought for voting rights, fair housing, and equality.
So yes, Democrats were the party of the Klan — until they weren’t.

Here's a thought: Just paint the ICE trucks to look like Krispy Kreme delivery and tell the local authorities it's delivery for Pritzker.

Just to make a point, the states are not "sovereign" as (I believe it was) Gov. Pritzker has claimed.
We made that clear after 600,000 casualties back in 1861-1865.
Gov. "Insurrection" Pritzker needs to be wearing fashionable orange in the federal pen.

Remember the last time Democrats decided to attack federal property? I do. 600,000 Americans lost their lives over it

Anonymous takes are easy; accuracy takes work.
Lucy, splain to me how the dog ate the homework.
The Democrsts were the party of succession. Prove me wrong— that is . Absolutely fact.

Johnson also made a similar racist comment on what the Democrats gained…
