Another reason we do not want the Government determining health care

There have been some interesting discussions on health care here. Let me pose another scenario. Let us say you work for a company that provides adequate medical insurance for you and your family. This is a benefit for working at that company. The company bears a portion of the cost of this insurance and so do you through payroll deductions. The management decides smoking is a long-term health cost that drives up premiums for the plan they provide. They decree any smoker will not be covered under this plan. Is this a fair decision?

Now let us say the owners/managers of the company decide that meat is evil and unethical and now unless you adopt a vegan lifestyle you can no longer be covered. Now what do you say?

If you work in either of these situations you have the choice to opt of of the company plan and buy your own policy.

If the Government is the provider of insurance and makes similar decisions regarding your health care and coverage, now what do you do? What if they outlaw eating Twinkies or fried foods altogether? After all poor dietary choices will then affect the cost of the plan driving up the taxes of those who pay the Government's bills.

Is this scenario far-fetched? Do you think the Feds will never tell us how to live and what to eat? After all, the President said we should have controls on how we set our thermostats...
