Obama, you speak with forked tongue

“What we can’t do is allow a patchwork of 50 different states, or cities or localities, where anybody wants to make a name for themselves suddenly says, ‘I’m going to be anti-immigrant, and I’m going to try to see if I can solve the problem ourself.’”--President Obama on CBS News Sunday
I guess we can expect lawsuits against Virginia and Rhode Island and any other state that checks immigration status when a suspect is detained. More importantly when will we see the Federal lawsuits against sanctuary cities?  After all, we cannot have every state and city create a patchwork of immigration policies...

To that I can only respond, "Fork you, Øbama."

The same concept could be applied to other laws......asy, perhaps gun laws? I mean, really, it would be logical to have every state have the same laws regarding the carriage of firearms.....Rather than the "patchwork" we have now....

MR B, only if we don't all have to adopt Illinois law...

Worse than the patchwork of gun laws is the patchwork of CCW permit reciprocity between states that have CCW (my state says your permit is fine here, but your state says my permit is teh suck and won't recognize it). Federal reciprocity would be a wonderful thing. It would be nice to be able to carry in Ohio without having to supplement my Indiana permit with say, a Florida one -- the only difference between the two being that Indiana doesn't require any firearms training and Florida does (even if it's just NRA gun safety 101).
