Ladies -- now I get it

I came home from a business trip yesterday evening.  I was dog tired. I picked up the remote to turn on the TV. Nothing. The set would not turn on. Houston, we have a major problem.

After trying everything, including finding and checking the owner's manual ( call a service representative), I had the boy help me move the non-functioning set and replace it with the old set from the bedroom.

Watching a 20" screen is not nearly as pleasurable as watching a 52" screen. There is no doubt in my mind that bigger is better.

Exactly why I don't call it, Little Dick's Place.

I'm amazed that you didn't immediately go shopping.

Ha Jean, that was my first inclination, but the electronics store is really funny about insisting I have money in the bank to pay for purchases...

Bought my last tv through Amazon, local store to include Best Buy sucked and I got free shipping. I didn't have to do anything but open the door, unbox it and plug it in. No dragging it home getting it out of the car/ truck, dragging it in the house. Free delivery and 400 bux cheaper. Tell me the internet isn't changing the world.

If you have HD cable or DISH, I'm telling you from experience, replace your "big screen" with the the new LED tv's.

We bought a Samsung 55 inch LED and the picture is UNBELIEVABLE. I cannot hardly watch anything that is not HD now. Watching the Colts is like standing on the field.

And since you don't reside too far from me, I can tell you where to get it for a good deal by asking for a "friends and family" discount.

It's worth it, believe me. No sense in replacing it with one that will be obsolete in a year.

Rita, hon, they're ALL obsolete in a year. That's how the industry stays alive.

Nathan: Oh yeah, I know that. I work for an electronics retailer. The big thing now is 3D tv, which to me is completely a waste. But you cannot get any better picture than the LED.

Had the Superbowl party in February at our house and the only complaint I had about the LED was that the Colts didn't win again.

James, I started looking at Amazon last night. The wife is still sketchy about ordering from the internet. I explained to her the manufacturer ships to a whse, and the local store gets it the same place Amazon does.

Thanks Rita -- that is the way we might go if the repair is too much -- in that case expect me to contact you! Hopefully it wont cost much. I think it is a fried switch or circuit board. Maybe the lamp, although it is only about 1 year old.
