The wife and I took a little road trip to the next county to hit up an old fashioned root beer stand drive-in. The nice carhop hung the tray from my window and I thoroughly enjoyed my chili dogs with mustard and onion. They even offered diet root beer in a frosted mug. We both ate for less than $20 including a 20% tip. We took the “scenic” route home.
Okay, it was not scenic unless you are moved by corn and soy beans, but it wasn’t the interstate .

You'll drive far to evade the roundabouts!
I can’t even get 1/2 mile without a roundabout!
I do mustard and onions, too!
I love this post.
First job at 13 was as a car hop at an A&W Root beer place. Received first paycheck and owner was explaining deduction to me and explaining SS. I was appalled because who worried about being 65 that was a century away and I probably would never get that old. Give me my money Now. Favorite food was the chili dog with onions and cheese.
