Wherein I again deviate from the presumed political postion

Indiana is a solid Republican state. I’m too lazy to look it up, but the Democrats have carried the state but a few times in last 100 years (4 times I did look it up). There have been but a handful of Democrat Governors since the Republican Party was formed around 175 years ago. Democrats held office during the KKK heydays in the 1920s. Go figure.

Currently, no Democrats hold state-wide office. The Republicans hold a firm super-majority in the Statehouse . Seven of nine Congressional Districts are held by Republicans.

The Trump administration is pushing hard to have the state redistrict mid-term. Look, you would be hard pressed not to admit that Marion County (Indianapolis) is pretty Blue these days -the Democrats hold the majority of council seats, the mayor’s office, the DA. Like most cities, Indy is a democratic stronghold. Likewise, Da Region, the NW corner of the state nearest Chicago, has long been Democrat. The two non-republican seats are in those areas.

No matter how creative the Republicans get, restricting will at most gain one seat. There is no point and it smacks of a blatant power grab.
