I've been watching old episodes of ER for the past week or two. I forgot how good the show was. I've also noted there were 20+ episodes in a season, not the 13 or sometimes fewer we are offered these days from both broadcast TV or streaming services.

22-26 episodes per season used to be the standard, till the writers' strike. Depended on whether a series went on summer hiatus. For instance there were 79 Star Trek (TOS) episodes over three seasons, which works out to just over 26 episodes per season. There were actually 29 episodes in the first season, 26 in the second, and 24 in the third.
ER is one of my all-time favorites.
